For 108 years, fans of Chicago Cubs baseball suffered every playofff season, with mishap after mishap each being traced back to 1945 when a friendly goat was kicked out of a World Series game. But the 2016 season felt different. Would this finally be the year that the Billy Goat Curse was reversed? Author Brad Herzog tells the story of the curse's origin and follows the Cubs right through that fateful November night in 2016 when the Cubbies could finally fly the "W." A bar owner finds a goat and claims him as his pet and names him murphy. The goat and the bar owner did everything together and one day the bar owner wanted to take his goat to a cubs game while they were in the world series. The cubs had already been terrible years prior to the owner bring his goat to the game. When arriving to the stadium the staff at the stadium said that the goat could not stay and would have to leave, but the bar owner was not going to leave his goats side so as they were leaving the old man said that the cubs would a horrendous losing streak. This is what started the curse and cubs fans tried everything including bringing upon a goat of their own but nothing worked and the cubs kept losing. That was until the 2016 season of the MLB when the Cubs won game 7 of the world series beating the Cleveland team 8 to 7. This was to have said to break Murphy's curse. ( )
