Biography & Autobiography. Family & Relationships. Psychology. Nonfiction. HTML:One woman's secret journal completely changes her marriage in this hilarious and biting memoir??the inspiration for the Netflix Original Series SEX/LIFE. School psychologists aren't supposed to write books about sex. Doing so would be considered "unethical" and "a fireable offense." Lucky for you, ethics was never my strong suit. Sex/Life: 44 Chapters About 4 Men is a laugh-out-loud funny and brutally honest look at female sexuality, as told through the razor-sharp lens of domesticated bad girl BB Easton. No one and nothing is off limits as BB revisits the ex-boyfriends??a sadistic tattoo artist, a punk rock parolee, and a heavy metal bass player??that led her to finally find true love with a straight-laced, drop-dead-gorgeous . . . accountant. After settling down and starting a family with her perfectly vanilla "husbot," Ken, BB finds herself longing for the reckless passion she had in her youth. She begins to write about these escapades in a secret journal, just for fun, but when Ken starts to act out the words on the pages, BB realizes that she might have stumbled upon the holy grail of behavior modification techniques. The psychological dance that ensues is nothing short of hilarious as BB wields her journal like a blowtorch, trying to light a fire under her cold, distant partner. A gritty, honest, laugh out loud, cringe in quiet memoir about a married wife and mother desperate to recapture the wild, sexual escapades that dissolved once she became a suburban working wife and mother. I discussed this book with the midlife women in my circle of friends and discovered this sentiment is often felt but rarely discussed. A seminal work about the essential nature of sex in women's lives. ( )

Well, this was fun! When I saw this book, I knew that I would have to give it a try. I found it to be a great escape for just a bit. I found myself chuckling every once in a while and I related to the events in the book more often than I would care to admit. I am so glad that I decided to take a chance with this book.

The book is told through a series of journal entries. When BB realizes that her husband Ken has read her journal, she decides to embellish some of the events to help encourage Ken to step up his game. She starts a second journal that chronicles the events going on with Ken and that tell us what really happened. We get to see 4 of the relationships that have shaped BB’s life. Knight, who she dated in high school, was kind of scary but sweet to BB at times until he wasn’t. Next up is Harley who has some strange tattoos and sometimes seemed clueless. Hans was a bass player who was smitten with BB. Then she met Ken, who didn’t seem to be her type until she really got to know him. Now she just needs to get her accountant husband to bring some of the wildness from her past into their relationship.

This was a nice light read. A straightforward conversation between BB and her husband might have been able to achieve the same results but it probably wouldn’t have been as much fun. I worked my way through the book quite quickly and had a smile on my face the whole time. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun quick read. I don’t think that I will read any further in this series but I would check out more books by this author in the future.

I received a review copy of this book from Forever. ( )

When I saw that one of my top 5 authors endorsed this one, I knew it was going to the top of my must read list! And, a must read, it was! As soon as I got it, I sat down to read it. Let me tell you, do NOT, I repeat, do NOT for any reason drink any liquids while reading this book! If you do, you risk spraying every drop out of your nose!

I’m not a big memoir reader, but this one…..this one just called to me. The glossary alone was enough to hook me! Once I hit the first chapter and read about the “husbot”…..that was it for me. Hook. Line. Sinker. I was a goner and I laughed ridiculously loud while reading this one. I loved the way BB penned out her life story.

Easton’s memoir is interesting and awesomely penned. I loved turning the pages and finding something new and laugh-out-loud worthy. Easton is a fantastic author, and made her memoir read like a well chiseled fiction novel. Definitely a new favorite read and highly worthy of all the 5 stars!

I was sent this book from the publisher/publicity team. My ratings and reviews will be my own personal opinions and are in no way influenced by publishers or authors who may have sent me books to review.

I am not one to normally grab for a memoir, especially when I am not too familiar with the author. However; I have seen this one everywhere lately and also heard it is going to be made into a TV show/Movie (not 100% sure which one). I decided to give it a go.

This was definitely funny and entertaining. I wanted a little more around certain stories, so I was excited to learn about the additional books following each relationship/man involved with this one. I found some relationships more entertaining than others when it came to story telling.

I did listen to this on audiobook. I loved how the narrator brought the sarcasm alive in the story. It made it even better experience while reading.

Overall, this was fun and I look forward to reading more from BB Easton. ( )
