In this memoir, A. J. Sherman narrates a life acutely conscious of being a triple outsider: foreign-born, Jewish and homosexual. A historian, he moved with ease through the worlds of investment banking, social work, academe, Jungians, Jewish organizations, publishing, philanthropy, classical music and more. His memoir is filled with engaging accounts of his relationships including such world-historical figures as Isaiah Berlin and members of the Rothschild and Warburg families. A master story-teller, he brings to life leaders in every field he touched, as well as many colorful figures - rabbis, psychoanalysts, doctors, bankers and musicians. In reading his life, which spans the second half of the 20th century, we get a picture of the history of that time in American and European culture.… (más)
