"The impetus for this book", explains the author, "is traced to a conversation I had several years ago with one of the leading Protestant sages in pastoral care and counseling and a founding member of one of the largest professional bodies of pastoral counselors in the country. In that conversation, the remark was made that in the near future the Protestant Church would begin to see a decline in professional pastoral counseling countered by a rapid increase among Protestant clergy interested in spirituality -- formation, direction, counseling -- for, said he, "many Protestant clergy still want to use prayer and Scripture in their pastoral work". What we needed, he pointed out to me, was something of a guidebook for Protestant clergy who want to draw from the spirituality tradition of the Christian faith but have not been trained in it. Such was the impetus for the development of this resource instrument designed primarily for Protestant clergy but hopefully of benefit to all interested in the spirituality tradition of the Christian Community as taught and practiced by the Catholic Church".… (más)
