The appraisal of visual art is traditionally regarded as being the province of the artist, the art historian and the art critic. But visual art, as a manifestation of human behaviour, is intimately linked with the evolution of man; it must be seen as both an aspect of human ethnology and a facet of the cultural needs of a community.
