Alosa is on a secret mission to find part of a secret map that reveals the treasure of the sirens. Harshly trained in combat by her Pirate King father ( who has sent her on the quest) she must hide not only her fighting skills but also the secret siren part of her that can control men and make them do her bidding. Using her wits and skills she comes up against the handsome first mate Riden who is also very clever. Can thwart Alosa's quest, and will her father punish her if she fails? Great adventure and characters - a couple of plot twists - vivid swashbuckling detail with the fantasy element of the sirens thrown in ( a la Anakin Skywalker being controlled by the dark side of the Force - can Alosa resist the power the more she uses it) I first read this book in Year 7 as the library had a pirate themed display for the month. It's literally my favourite book ever and I'm so glad it's getting th recognition it deserves. Alosa is such a likeable, sassy and empowered young woman and Riden is such a thoughtful, loving and protective brother and first-mate. Both characters are witty and I love the tension and banter between them, as well as the endearing side characters. Pirates, strong female characters, slow-burn romance and sirens are literally all my favourite things combines so thanks very much Tricia. I also love her siren powers and how they are explained super well. The plot was fantastic and so was the romance, this book really shows you don't need characters to have sx for it to be a good book. This book did not disappoint. It was a fast paced story with great world building and great characters. Alosa was such an amazing main character, Riden was a great love interest and I loved the romance (and tension) between them. I found this book very entertaining and enjoyed it way more than I thought I would. I’m looking forward to reading Tricia’s other books, because if they’re as good as this one, I’m sure I won’t be disappointed. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

- i physically rolled my eyes while reading this.
- this book is almost entirely exposition. Everything is told, and yet somehow we barely learn anything about their world.
- the heroine was incredibly annoying with no redeeming qualities. She constantly reminds the reader and all the other characters how deadly she is, how many people she's killed - she's really just a ✨badass✨. The other half of the time she's complaining about how boring it is pretending to be a captive, how "pirates are gross and they stink ( )
