GARNET RIDES AGAIN Here it is, the highly anticipated second stem-winder in the “Garnet Sullivan Live from Florida” series. THE DEVIL, THE DIVA & THE DEEP BLUE SEA is Garnet’s newest madcap caper and is bursting with another large cast of high-octane oddball characters of the kind that won the redhead reporter snoop an instant following in MARLIN, DARLIN’. This time it’s both football season and hurricane season, and in Florida that means lunacy of near epidemic proportions. The story opens on Game Day of the first Gator game of the season as a nasty hurricane is bearing down on the Florida east coast. Garnet is having a football party and murder, mayhem and madness quickly ensue, along with some wonderful romancing and many laugh out loud situations. Readers will gasp once more at Garnet’s zany derring-do and her talent for getting into jams by hoisting herself on her own quixotic petard as she single-mindedly pursues “the real story.” Fans will be happy to learn that the Irish setter “Ringo” remains Garnet’s best friend and constant slobbering companion, that her sweetheart PD Chester Dare can't stop loving her and finally mends his dipsomaniac ways, and that her socialite dithering BFF Allison Highsmith is back just as well-coifed and expensively attired with her signature pearl choker still around her neck, as is the studly, and “well-scrubbed” Sheriff Lance Dawtry, both of whom become embroiled in a wild liaison that defies commonsense and any sense of decorum. A DEVIL OF A PLOT An eccentric “expert” on all matters pertaining to murder and other hellish affairs, Dr. Hiram Beignet Fritzwold, a retired Florida dermatologist with strange paranormal powers, figures largely in this demonic plot. As events turn grim and gruesome, and paranoia and fear spread in the little backwater Punta Bella, FL, Doc “Fritz” advises Garnet, and clues multiply, suspicions mount. Is the good doctor himself the actual mastermind of the whole devilish business? Is he perhaps the Devil Himself?… (más)
