I skimmed it because I couldn't remember what actually happened in this volume... Then saw how the women were drawn and remember thinking ''Oh yeah, that's why the phrase 'male-gaze' exist..''

Also the words 'pretty hentai' popped up in my mind... So I won't continu with this series. Good art doesn't make up for weak storytelling and in combination with the fact that women are always drawn with an perfect view on their bodies... yeah no.

THAT ART THOUGH! ( )

Overall, the story's advancing, and in some interesting ways.

But overall, the same issues abound: Confusing, yet beautiful art. Decent, yet pedestrian writing, filled with heavy-handed conversations about hope.

I'll give it one more, just to see what they do out of water. ( )

Stel Caine's family are scattered or dead. This story deals mostly with her eldest daughter Della Caine and how she deals with her situation. Meanwhile Stel presses onward to the surface to find the returned probe. This series seems to be about hope and how different people deal with trauma and depression. The whole world is going to die and mankind huddles at the bottom of the ocean in separated cities, hoarding oxygen and food. ( )

At first I thought this was separating into a bunch of different plot lines, but somewhere before the halfway point it all started coming together. I really dig the different "societies" and I'm super curious what they're going to find when/if they get to the surface.

Also thought it was awful, and also original, that the sister shows up to save another sister and ends up killing all the good guys without realizing it. ( )

I keep getting drawn in by the artwork, and then annoyed at the gratuitous female nudity and then bored by the plot. There's a lot of politics and a lot of what the society under the water is like but I didn't find that I really cared. ( )
