This book was very enjoyable, but there some things that just kind of threw me off any total enjoyment. First off: the characters were still absolutely fantastic. They were funny, dangerous, caring, and surprising. Zzzap remained my favorite. His one liners were so perfectly timed that I really did laugh out loud multiple times. One of the things that irked me a bit was how there were two different locations where huge things were happening. Both were very interesting, but I feel that the constant flipping back and forth (plus the sections of "then") pulled me out of the story. While the ending was exciting, it just didn't feel like a strong enough series ending (is there more to come in this world)? The epilogue was sweet though and if there ever is any more books, I will definitely be picking them up. Quick note: what the fuck happened to Legion? He was huge two books ago, but we never got a single glimpse of him here. This book was very enjoyable, but there some things that just kind of threw me off any total enjoyment. I continue to enjoy this crazy post-apocalyptic blend of zombie survival and superhero themes. The books are fun and easy to read and always action-packed. This book deals with two main issues. The first is the expansion of the Mount into another area called New Eden. The Mount is strapped for resources and needs the gardens/food that New Eden can supply. However, New Eden is not well fortified and something fishy is going on with the super soldiers who are stationed there. The second story involves Zzzap’s continuing search for survivors outside of the Mount. He finds a strange island that appears to be populated by a number of people. Him and St. George go out to offer these people help but find out that the situation is not as it first seems. The story is fun and fast-paced and I enjoyed reading about all my favorite super heroes. There isn’t a ton of character development, aside from Danielle’s struggle with not having Cerebus to wear. My only complaint is I feel like each book has a somewhat similar themed story. Since I only read one book each year in this series that’s fine with me. I think if you were going to read the series back to back you might get a bit bored with the similarities. Overall I enjoyed the story and recommend to fans of the series. I love the zombie/superhero mash-up and all the action in here. I would recommend to fans of superhero or zombie stories. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

The spectacular fifth adventure in the genre-busting Ex-Heroes series The heroes are overjoyed when they discover another group of survivors, living on a man-made island in the middle of the Pacific ocean. But there's something very, very wrong with this isolated community and its mysterious leader--a secret that could put every survivor in the world at risk. My main problem with it is that my patience is now worn pretty thin with the perhaps noble but pretty stupid actions of our Heroes, as they once again (again!) decide to go offer some other survivors help and walk right into a pretty darn obvious trap. Also maybe don't take Corpse Girl since she's really creepy and bound to freak everybody out?!?! Not only this but they had enough problems at home already with the food situation at the Mount and Eden without sending their two most useful and powerful heroes off on a mission that really could have waited until a better time. Plus they have no food or resources to offer anybody at the moment anyway... I'm amazed that Stealth ever agreed to it! The relationship with St George is making her way too soft.
So that annoyed me. A lot. But at least, Thank God, that Legion didn't show up in this one!
The plot may have been kind of stupid but still Peter Clines is a hell of a writer and I still enjoyed it! It was good to spend more time with Zzzap as he's one of my favourites, but there was pretty but no Stealth in this book. Danielle is stuck back at base still trying to build the new Cerberus suit but mainly her sub-plot deals with her PTSD and some issues with the Unbreakables. I've got to say I really miss her in the suit.. not really a fan of Caesar.
