LINCOLN'S BODYGUARD starts with the premise that Abraham Lincoln was saved from assassination, and as a result, the Civil War continued for years longer than it did in reality.
TJ Turner writes well, and he handles the first person narration better than a lot of people. He is also adept when it comes to action scenes, and there were moments when I could not turn the pages fast enough. In so many ways, this book was quite good!
This is obviously a work of fiction, and one has to suspend belief to enjoy the book. That said, there is a major plot line that might be bothersome to some. I don't like to add spoilers to my reviews, so it must suffice to say that certain aspects of Lincoln in this novel did not ring true to me. However, the writing is good, the pacing is great, and I'll be looking forward to more books from TJ Turner. ( )
