Many artists, poets and sculptors have set about to portray Jesus, Son of God and son of Mary, in an Australian context. This book seeks to introduce to a wider audience some representations of Jesus that are well-known locally but less well-known generally. Their choice has been influenced by the compiler's interest in liturgically related and 'devotional' works of art, and works that depict biblical motifs in a locally or culturally perceived way. Drawing on the artistic and spiritual insights of the artists themselves, the accompanying commentary invites readers to 'follow their hearts' into prayerful reflection on the mystery of Jesus.
