Reality drifts in and out of fantasy in an exploration of meaning in life. Thought provoking, disconcerting, sometimes confusing, its philosophical dreaminess won't suit everyone, but it's worth a try. ( ) Took me half the book but eventually I entered into the spirit of it and enjoyed it. Most other reviewers seem to give it either a panning or rave review so I might be missing something. As I finished it I felt it lacked depth - for me no resonances of folk or fairy tale, and no feeling of being rooted in a wider or deeper framework. Nicely done but did not lead me anywhere. I cannot rate this book as it went clean over my head. I did try to get to grips with it and for a while even thought I might succeed but eventually lost the will. The passage that resonated most with me: 'What are you talking about?' 'Forget it.' 'I think I lost you there. Do you want a drink?' Yes please, a large one... sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

From Booker Prize-Winner Ben Okri. A group of world-weary travellers discover the meaning of life in a mysterious mountain village. Eight film-makers arrive at a small Swiss hotel on the shores of a luminous lake. Above them, strewn with lights that twinkle in the darkness, looms the towering Rigi mountain. Over the course of three days and two nights, the travellers will find themselves drawn in to the mystery of the mountain reflected in the lake. One by one, they will be disturbed, enlightened, and transformed, each in a different way. The Age of Magic has begun. Unveil your eyes. ALSO BY BEN OKRI: Astonishing the Gods, In Arcadia, A Way of Being Free, Dangerous Love. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
