Written by Alan Cowsill and Illustrated by Lalit Kumar Sharma, World War One takes readers on a journey through the war to end all wars. Following a sequence of actual British soldiers, the award-winning graphic novel uses dark humor and vivid illustrations to bring World War 1 to life. As a veteran, I admire sneaky humor. As a teacher, I appreciate the book's focus on causes of the war, inhumanity of battle, technological advances, and scope of a war laden with lessons for the world to remember. This book is useful to those just beginning their study of the topic and those with deep prior knowledge of WW1. The illustrations really are something! It didn't win Comic Con's 2014 award for best graphic novel writer, penciller, and inker team for nothing. ( ) sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
"It was the first major conflict of the 20th century, a war that devastated the whole of Europe and expanded across the entire globe, decimating a generation. From the assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo to the armistice of 1918, World War One: 1914-1918 provides a complete overview of the war that shaped the modern world from the viewpoint of the servicemen who fought in it, creating a unique graphic novel history of one of the most destructive conflicts of all time."--Back cover.
