Past, present, and future collide to throw respected forensic anthropologist Bill Brockton's successful, secure life into devastating turmoil in this poignant novel in the New York Times bestselling Body Farm mystery series. It's been ten years since Dr. Bill Brockton created the Body Farm--the world's first postmortem research facility dedicated to advancing the frontiers of forensic science--and the researcher is at the pinnacle of his career. Under his leadership, the University of Tennessee's forensic anthropology program has become the most prominent in the world, and Brockton's skills and knowledge are in high demand among top law enforcement. Calling him in for a number of high profile cases, the FBI now wants him to identify the charred remains of a maverick millionaire, killed in a fiery plane crash. But a storm is about to hit Brockton with cataclysmic force. First, his identification of the crash victim is called into question. Then he receives a threatening message from the serial killer who attempted to murder the scientist and his family a decade ago. And from Brockton's beloved wife Kathleen--his lodestone and his source of security--he gets the most shocking news of all. Will Brockton be able to weather this deluge . . . or has he finally reached the breaking point?… (más)

The book is well titled as the reader almost reaches the "Breaking Point" before they're finished with this one. Not that it's a bad story or that it's not as good as the past ones, it's that you feel like you are in the eye of a hurricane and being thrown into the path of a tornado only to be hit by a freight train traveling 100 mph. Way too much is happening at one time to our poor Bill Brockton. Too many horrible, surprises before the surprise that really didn't surprise me much by this point was delivered. It's a well-done mystery combined with a profound, tear producing story of undying true love. A beautiful, but not the usual type of journey we are accustomed to with this series. ( )

Good suspense. A little slow.

Review went missing. How does save not working? ( )

It's not like I didn't see it coming. There were more than enough tells you'd have to be oblivious not to see it coming. You certainly don't expect to cry your eyes out while reading a book about a guy who runs a research facility where he studies the science of how bodies rot. But I did. Is it wrong to not have kind thoughts for authors who kill off good people? And then there's the main plot of the book. If you pay close attention, you might even recognize a name straight from today's headlines even though the story takes place more than a decade ago. Stellar read! ( )

The second in the"prequel" a bit better than the last book, but it's still a far cry from the first books in the series. ( )

Decent, but definitely my least favorite of the series. ( )
