This book is an example that girls can play baseball and to not rule out your participation in anything if you are interested in doing it. It teaches children to not limit themselves based on their gender and to consider all sports if they have an interest in any one of them. It teaches kids to pursue their dreams no matter what others say or what is considered the "norm". I like that this book presents a look at gender roles in sports. This is something that is an important piece of history (and present day), but that is not often seen in literature. The rhyming format of the book made it fun, while presenting a very serious subject. This book can be used throughout a variety of grades to preface the topic of women's rights, or even just the way that there are some groups who get "put in a box" because of assumptions that are made about that group. Whether younger children or older kids, it provides a great starting point for discussing roles that are expected of certain groups. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

A baseball team loses a game so they bring out their girl pitcher. She pitches ways that throw the opposing team off causing them to strike out almost every time. She hiked it like a football, did a softball pitch, etc. for her crazy pitches to throw the other team off. .This allowed them to get ahead in the game until finally someone hit off the pitcher but still ended up getting out. Allowing her baseball team to win the game. ( )
