Dr. Autonomou is missing, and the rescue team vows to bring her back. But then Xela and Rubidoux get accidentally sent through a wormhole to ancient China during the rule of Kubla Khan. Meanwhile, Arms Akimbo is thrown into unexplored Africa to face swamps, quicksand, rapids, rioting hippos, and the spears of some very angry natives. That's two groups in trouble in two different places and times -- unless somebody back on Roma can figure it all out and get them home again.
