Cricket Montgomery has been thrown under the short bus. Shipped off to a summer camp by her father, Cricket is forced to play babysitter to a bunch of whiny kids--or so she thinks. When she realizes this camp is actually for teens with special needs, Cricket doubts she has what it takes to endure twenty-four hours, let alone two weeks. Thanks to her dangerously cute co-counselor, Quinn, there may be a slim chance for survival. However, between the campers’ unpredictability and disregard for personal space, Cricket’s limits get pushed. She will have to decide if suffering through her own handicapped hell is worth a summer romance--and losing her sanity.… (más)

What a horror.
Don't go there. PLEASE.

EDIT 2014/07/21 - Some clarifications

The idea was interesting - but executed just terribly.
I'd love to read a decent book dealing with special needs people. Hell, I'd love to work at this kind of camp!
I loved those kids, with bright and colourful personalities.

The main character? Flat cardboard cutout. No development.
Outdated culture references.
Author seems to not know what "politically correct" IS.

This book is plain terrible ( )

Read this book!! It is told in such a brutally honest voice. Cricket is such a real character and I like that so much. She spoke in a true voice and that made the story so much more realistic. Cricket feels her summer is totally ruined when she is sent to summer camp for mentally disabled children. This is not at all what this spoiled rich girl thought her summer would be like. Cricket's voice is so authentic that I think this book will resonate with young adults. ( )

Privileged Cricket has pushed her dad a bit to far. He has sentenced her (in Cricket's mind) to spending 2 weeks at a camp for special needs kids instead of going to Hawaii with her friend. Cricket starts out being a brat, but begins to realize it is not all about her. The campers are hilarious, comfortable with themselves and each other, and it takes Cricket awhile to figure out why. A bit of mystery adds to this appealing story. A quick read that has a powerful message. ( )
