I wanted to know what happened next but some stories are better left where they ended. I didn't feel this book was really worth the read. The original story was better off left alone. ( )

'I've learned during my time with Andrew that being spontaneous and breaking free from the mold is often a good thing. After all, we wouldn't be together today if I myself didn't have some firsthand experience with being spontaneous.'

Plot

Five months ago, Camryn Bennett met Andrew Parrish on a Greyhound bus. Now they're engaged, and that's not the only special event coming up. The couple couldn't be happier as they look forward to their future together, until tragedy strikes, and it changes them both.

Andrew is trying to move past it, and he thinks Camryn is doing the same until he discovers that she's hiding her pain and attempting to numb it in dangerous ways. Andrew is determined that their love can survive anything, so he decides to take Camryn on a new journey to rediscover themselves.

My thoughts

I read The Edge of Never a few months ago, and while I enjoyed it there were parts that seemed to drag along. I'm not sure why, but sometimes I found it hard to get into. However, it's sequel impressed me. I saw this on NetGalley and thought I'd request it to read, thinking that I'll see if I enjoy this one more. I was also eager to see where Camryn and Andrew's life would lead them next. I definitely wasn't disappointed by this book, as I enjoyed it a lot more than the first one and finished it in a few days.

One of the things that I enjoyed the most about this book is the alternating points of view. Although the first book was like that too, I felt like I really got to know Camryn and Andrew better in this book, as they attempt to move through a hard time together. Seeing through both of their eyes is interesting, as we can immediately see how certain events affect them. There are always similarities between how they each see things, but there are also differences. For me this makes the story more realistic, as although they are soul mates with a lot in common, they are also separate people with their own thoughts and feelings.

It doesn't seem fair that they should have to pull through another tragedy, but I loved seeing them supporting each other through it, despite the pain they were both in. Andrew is wonderful and attentive to Camryn's needs throughout the book, always putting her first has he has done before. Overall, their relationship is wonderful, the way they tease each other and make fun of each other is great; they're always playful and laughing together, even through hard times.

For me, the ending of this book was perfect. I won't say anything more about it as it will ruin the whole story for anyone that hasn't read it. I also won't say anything more about the first book, as you really need to read that one before you read this. So although there were parts of the first book that I didn't enjoy so much, you should definitely go out and buy it, as combined with it's sequel the story is fantastic.

It was good, but not nearly as enjoyable as the first book. The last 20% seemed so rushed. Wasn't impressed with the ending either. ( )

So, I did not love the first book in the series but I had book 2 on my shelves so I had to give it a try.

I liked seeing the development with the characters and their story. In The Edge of Never, Cam is dealing with so many different tragic live events. She really does not deal them, as she uses her new romance to mask what she is really going through. In this book, more tragedy occurs! She is now facing the reality of how to deal with everything that has happened.

Again, I think this was good. For some reason both book 1 and 2 should be everything I want in a good read, but I just could not connect with them. Both were good, but I was not blown away. ( )

Let me start with, I love J.A. Redmerski and everything she has written and whatever she writes. The story continues from the Edge of Never and I was expecting the same emotions in Edge of Never to be in Edge of Always. It's a different book. I get that now. I loved the Edge of Always, the story, the emotions, and the unsettled feelings. A great love story to the end. But, it is not the Edge of Never. ( )
