Edit: I'm putting this edit at the top because I feel that it's pretty important. On his blog, the author said this in response to my review: "What disturbs me is a stupid monkey like you trying to pass yourself off as someone who can read." Does that sound racist to you? Because it sounds very racist to me. He also called another reviewer fat, isn't that just lovely? Ick. I read a passage out of the book and it was... Disturbing. Really, it's weird enough that he based the book off of a teen girl, but then the wanna-be sex scene just puts it over the top. That and some of it is phrased kind of awkwardly. Either way, the book and the author are super sketchy, and I definitely will not be reading this. Edit again: Just incase people come to look at my review after his blog post later on this month (March 2013), I'm going to post two screenshots. At the beginning, Carroll kept insisting that he had no idea what I looked like when he'd posted the blog post after we all started getting upset about what he said, but if this were the case, then why was he mocking my appearance and my about me/interest sections less than 24 hours after his blog post? Either he was lying and had no idea what I looked like and just wanted to make fun of me, or he lied about not knowing what I looked like and only used the excuse once people got angry. Either way, he's lying about something. Oh, and can I just say that the fact that he said he had no idea what I looked like is ridiculous. Not only was my profile picture there RIGHT NEXT to my review, but he also left a link to my profile, and obviously he would have seen what I looked like if he was on my profile and checking out my interests and whatnot. Oh, and here was the original blog post, not the one he editted after he got criticized for what he said. Edit: I'm putting this edit at the top because I feel that it's pretty important. An American detective, Lancaster Parks, searching for a serial killer of American tourists in San Felipe, Mexico, a town buried in secrets, and ghosts. A corrupt police chief, Hernando Felix, clouded in more mystery than the town he serves. And her, the cat of Mexico, the beautiful girl whose name changes on a daily basis. When American detective, Lancaster Parks, is sent by the U.S. State Department to investigate a string of serial killings committed against American male tourists in Mexico, he gets more than he ever bargained for. He quickly realizes he is in way over his head. Dealing with the corruption of local law enforcement, he also has to battle his conflicting emotions with a mysterious woman who shows up out of nowhere to seduce him. When all the evidence of the killings points to the chief, he wonders if he will even come out of this thing alive. He also wonders what mystery he will solve first, that of the woman, that of the corrupt chief of police, or the buried secrets of the past in a town lost in time. When you want a job done right, you send in the best, but even the best can have a bad day. Shadows are hard to capture in this elusive story of suspense, intrigue and erotic romance.
