An interesting take on a vampire story, I especially like that Lucy was introduced to them through a homeless shelter. Lucy is an endearing character and I found her thoughts and actions to be believable as a teenager. Lots of authors don't know how to write teenagers, but she was written well. Good book. ( ) There were some things I liked about this story and some things I didn't like. I liked that some of the vamps used their 'gift' to help ease suffering. There were things I didn't like. Giving Wash's life story as they ran up the stairs to hurry to kill the bad vamp was bizzaro to say the least. There were other things on the forensic side that I couldn't wrap my head around either. I have to believe that when a coroner was doing an autopsy that they would notice a little thing like the body contained no blood. Just saying .... I enjoyed this story of Lucy and her narration of the events that occurred in her life leading up to and after her 18 th birthday. The novel unfolds as though Lucy is telling you the story herself and I liked this approach as I was living the story with her . I liked the interaction between the characters and the descriptions of the places and the events the new Lucy experienced. Overall a good read and I look forward to the next story about Lucy. *I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. A new take on the vampire young adult genre, this started out interesting, with a young girl discovering her grandfather was a vampire hunter. The characters, especially the protagonist and the two vampires she ends up meeting and befriending, were interesting and compelling. But about halfway through the book, the story took a stereotypical turn that really bugged me, and made me not want to finish the book. While I'm glad I did finish the book, as the ending was interesting as well, the turn that tainted the story for me means I most likely will not be reading the rest of the series. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Lucy Leary's eighteen year old life is a wreck. Her parents divorced, she's earned a DUI, and her grandfather has died. He left her a single possession: A vampire slaying kit with a note that says, "They're real. Fight them." Lucy finds answers in a place she never expected--the homeless shelter where she has to perform her community service. The Sundown Shelter is only open at night, and the man who runs it disappears during the day. But digging into the truth is dangerous. What Lucy learns will force her to abandon her life and confront an ancient vampire out to get her family. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
