One thing I really like about these books is that they're not just about teen romance. The girls also work on friendships, family bonds, school, and religion. I like that they delve into all different parts of the characters lives and remind us that it's not just about having a boyfriend, there's a lot of other important things in a person's life.
That's being said, I didn't really like the main character Kate. She did get better by the end of the book, but she was judgemental and hypocritical and seemed to give up on other people quickly. I'm glad she matured throughout the book, but it was sort of hard for me to forgive her. I liked that we got to see characters from the previous 2 books, especially Jordan. ( )

I devoured this book in less than 24 hours! It takes place at a summer camp, contains romance and is a coming of age sort of tale. While the main character isn't someone that many find likable, I have to say that I could relate to her struggle to figure out your own beliefs and where you stand. It's a quick read that still manages to make you think. ( )

I like this series. I like that while each book focuses on two main characters that characters from early books appear. Kate was there for her friend Emily when Emily discovered she was pregnant and decided to abort the baby. Kate now has to look back on her life and see if what people say to her is true. She also has to deal with her guilt of helping Emily with her abortion. Kate now is dealing with feelings of confusion as she starts to be attracted to Matt. Is it wrong to feel so much so strongly for Matt? Can she act on her feelings and yet stay true to her values?

I like how Miranda Kenneally brings religion into this series. Making Kate question everything she thought she knew and believed, making her wonder why she believes so strongly in God and the teachings she grew up with while others who also grew up with those same teachings have stopped believing or living those teachings, is the strength of this book. I feel that it helps teens to know it is okay to question, to doubt, and to live their values. Watching Kate as she struggles to know why she is wrong to feel as she does brings to mind my own struggles as I was growing up. I liked that Kate stayed true to her values and teachings. I also liked that Kate learned tolerance and acceptance as she struggled to make sense of her changing world. Having Matt helped as she let go of her guilt. I also liked that Matt shared his secret and that he accepted her hesitancy in physically consummating their relationship.

There is a lot going on in this book, not only with Kate but others who also had to change their views of Kate. I think this is the best book of the series so far. I loved it! ( )

I am totally going to give this a proper review soon, but I would like to think about it a bit. Short story is, I am really pleased with this novel; I think it fills a niche that has been missing in teen literature, personally. It even borders on the "new adult" territory that's been so talked-about recently, but I think it's a great read for older teens exploring their sexual and spiritual lives. ( )

I'm so conflicted on how I feel about this series. Side stepping the part where I feel like I got tricked into reading YA Christian fiction (I set out looking for a jock romance with Catching Jordan), there is a lot I liked about these books, even if they got progressively more religious. I like what it tries to say about everyone finding their own Truth. I like the journeys the female protagonists go through in each book. I like the cute romantic comedy feel it all has. I like that both this book and Stealing Parker are both about young Christian girls learning how to figure out who they are and what they believe and learning that the world doesn't fall apart when they start to question it and that they're even better off for questioning it. And yet, with all these good things I'm still a little put off by the strong abstinence message that's weaved throughout the books. Way too much "girls are only happy when they fall in love and don't have sex". Anyway, quick cute reads, regardless of the moral preaching. ( )
