An older thriller that's been on my list for a while so I got it from the library. Did I think this was Coen brothers' level black comedy, as some of the reviews mentioned? No, I think it was a tad overwritten for that, but it was entertaining, and I'm glad the dog didn't die. ( )

This was a wild ride. Half way through the book things looked pretty wrapped up and I wondered how the author could fill up another 150 pages. But then things took off in a big hurry and went places I never expected.

The writing was very well done and I was sucked in from the first page. I didn't find any dull spots that I just had to slog through. The pace was fast and the characters interesting. Everyone was pretty well rounded and not just a stereotype although of course the characters with more page time were a little more filled out. The mystery was well done but not really the focus of the book, rather it was the bones that the story was hung on.

I could totally see this as a movie and I'd be first in line for a ticket. And while we're at it, sign me up for Ms. Mason's next book. ( )

Pretty good debut thriller. Ms. Mason has a lot of talent as a writer. Will be on the look out for her next book. ( )

This is a brilliant book, I was captivated by the story and the way it came together. Very ‘coen brothers’ as others have said, and a thoroughly good read ( )
