Hockey-obsessed tomboy Eleanor Westley has never been the object of a guy’s affection before. So when the hottest boy she’s ever seen moves in across the street and starts treating her like she’s the center of his universe, naturally she’s going to be a little skeptical. But everything starts to make sense when girls who look just like Ellie start dying all around the city. Obviously the new guy is the killer, and of course he only likes her because he wants to slice her into tiny pieces. Right? The more Ellie gets to know Seth the more she’s convinced he’s a psychopathic killer. Problem is, he’s the sweetest psychopathic killer she’s ever met. Not to mention he’s brutally hot. No matter how hard she tries, she can’t help but fall for him. Will Ellie find true love, or will her summer of firsts turn out to be a summer of lasts?… (más)

I was pretty disappointed by this if I'm honest.
I made the critical error of judging a book by it's cover.. An I personally thought the cover was awesome!
And not the every-day 'oh-that's-totally-awesome'-awesome. Oh no; I mean 'awe-inspiring'-awesome. I saw it and thought it was actually a really ingenious way of presenting the title. The whole 'serial-killer-writing' normally found in ransom demands (which basically consists of letters cut out of various magazines/newspapers and glued onto a blank sheet to form a message) is something I've always found quite pretty with a side of creepy..

Which explains why, in my head, I was anticipating this book to be freaky and yet kind of adorable! Like I said, I was disappointed. The book wasn't as creepy as I had been hoping it would be; I don't often pick up books with freakier elements, but when I do I want to be creeped out..

And I was very unimpressed with the romance..

Call me crazy, but at times that relationship was downright annoying. I'm one of those people who believe that in a relationship, both peoples' opinions matter. Respect is healthy. So I think it's pretty clear why I didn't like the relationship. I mean you don't just tell someone they don't have a choice in whether or not they go out with you. It's controlling, which in turn is completely unattractive (in my opinion).

(I realize this doesn't really convey my point well because that cat is extremely cute.. But you get the point.. )

Plus, I was so disappointed with our main character.. I was hoping for a bad-ass heroine who wouldn't be bossed around.. *Sigh* That didn't happen, unfortunately.

Although I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised that the Saturday Night Slasher was not who I had expected it to be. I totally had my money on Travis.. That guy was so strange 0.o I do love it when a book is unpredictable!
And that's probably how I ended up giving this three stars.. Simply because it was unpredictable..

Fun and intriguing

The whole time I was trying to guess who the killer was. The author did a good job keeping the mystery! Ellie and Seth were such fun characters to read about. I love how strong Ellie is and that she doesn't let people push her around. She can be stubborn and a little slow to realize things, but she 16 so what do you want? Seth was adorable. He could be creepy at times and needed more social skills, but he liked Ellie so much! He was always defending and protecting her and giving her chance after chance. He was persistent and went for what he wanted. I really enjoyed this book. ( )

So cute! If you want a funny, sweet, teen romance/drama this is a great book. I found Ellie to be relatable which was a nice balance to Seth-who was a bit 'much'. I would have given it 5 stars if he were more realistic but it didn't ruin the book or anything. Still cute and enjoyable! ( )

Being a fifteen-year-old girl is hard enough when you're a tomboy who plays hockey like one of the guys. Add in a really hot neighbor and first real crush with confusing teenage emotions, and a local serial killer and you have one heck of an amusing story.

Ellie has seriously always been one of the guys. She is just a normal teen who is only interested in playing hockey. The guys have always treated her like one of them, they tackle her, get into fights with her, she smack talks with them, and dresses like them. Her sister Angela is her older sister and she is the typical girlie girl and doesn't understand Ellie because of how different they are.

Then a hot California boy moved in across the street. Ellie is intrigued by him and she wants to know more. So what does a teenage girl who has no idea how to even begin interacting with boy do? Spy on him from her bedroom window duh. Ellie starts to learn his routine, and when he does his workouts shirtless in his garage. Soon, they meet and things get weird. He's a little obsessive. He likes to tease her and aggressively flirt with her which she has NO clue what to do about. So obviously she runs from him constantly. She is so confused when he even tries to hold her hand because what he makes her feel is so out of the normal from the way other boys have ever made her feel. His aggressiveness begins to freak her out, and when she sees his skills with knives that he can throw with deadly accuracy. She begins to panic at every site of him from both fear and what she doesn't know is desire.

Meanwhile, there is a serial killer on the loose. The murders started around the time that Seth moved into town. The "Saturday Night Slasher" is what the media calls the killer who is killing girls that look identical to Ellie. One is almost a perfect doppelganger for Ellie. So murder on the loose, a knife wielding neighbor with is obsessed with Ellie, and Ellie's new emotions and feeling lead to an amusing adventure. ( )
