I could not stop reading it. All the characters, the world build, the writing, the flow of the story, every nuance was amazing. Every element that makes a good story a Great Story, is in this story. There are surprises, there is emotion. There is non-stop action. It will make you laugh, cry and gasp. The romance is definitely Adult, but not Erotica. The characters throughout and the main characters of this story are intriguing and an absolute delight to read about. There are twist and turns throughout the story that keep you on your toes, so you don't KNOW what will happen next. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. July 4, 2017 – Finished Reading July 1, 2017 – Started Reading This series was recommended as a great fantasy romance. The blurb sounded okay, but 'Oh boy.' I managed to finish the book, but it really wasn't for me. The premise was fine: people from our world have doppelgangers in another world, so an adventurous girl decides to switch for a year, mostly to bond with new parents (her parents in this world died when she was young). However, as is explained very clearly by the witch making the transfer, just because someone looks the same, they don't act the same at all. So, Finnie, our heroine, arrives to find she's a princess (yay!) and on her way to her wedding with super-alpha hot guy Frey Drakken who can command elves and dragons. We don't actually get to see much of the elves or the dragons. Instead, we get lots of hot sex between the couple after some of the initial misunderstandings are smoothed out. I didn't care for the way Frey manhandles Finnie physically or treats her, especially at the beginning of the book. I really didn't care for the writing style - Finnie sounds like a junior high valley girl and it grates on the reader's nerves (at least mine) very quickly. The 'Oh boy' thing was really not 'cool' or as 'awe-some' as the author thinks. The world-building was okay, nothing special. The other characters were generic: Finnie's 'girls' and Frey's alpha guys were laughably interchangeable and I couldn't tell you their names. A lot of the book is just filler stuff when not sexual. Finnie cleans the cabin, Finnie learns to cheat at cards, etc. The ending, when something finally happens, feels rushed. I did finish it, but I won't go on to read any more by this author. I really wanted to like this one. The summary sounded like it could be a really fun read. But some things spoiled it for me and although the writing was sound, I sorta liked the main characters I couldn't overlook the things that bugged me. - The Hero says: “I’ll not thrust my cock between the legs of a woman who prefers a woman’s mouth there, Sjofn.” Good for you dude. For someone who didn't grew up in a world with openly gay people this is a remarkable open attitude. Especially in a forced marriage in which the people have to have children. Bit crude though... Still I admired (?) his attitude. But then he said this: “Maybe,” he cut me off, “as further recompense for this ridiculous, bloody, gods damned farce your father talked me into and, for some gods damned reason, I agreed to, I’ll watch you at play with a woman.” Wait what? Oh God! Oh Shit! OhGodohshitohGod! So yeah that cranks up my Ick-meter... Still I read on. It got better: “I must say, Frey, I wouldn't give a gods damn that one preferred tart. That was my new bride, she’d be tasting my cock either straight through her mouth or because I was thrusting it so deep, she’d savor it in her throat,” Thaddeus remarked quietly at his side. So our Hero (Frey) has a friend who has the attitude of a rapist. And yes talking about how you don't care about what the woman wants in bed (clearly not a cock) is a rapist attitude. So that freaked me out. But still I read on because Frey didn't say it and well he had his reasons to believe our Heroine wasn't who she said she was. So his doubts were justified. Still he didn't know for sure. Then came this scene and I became outraged. My eyes drifted open as something light and lovely glided from the back of my knee up the skin of the back of my thigh. That's assault. No matter how you look at it. He believes she is a lesbian. He believes she wouldn't welcome his touch and this is after he said he wouldn't touch her! Then he touches her in her sleep. Seriously how is this sexy? Even ok? This was the moment my boyfriend said I should stop reading. But like the idiot I am I read on. - The Heroine's attitude bugged me too at times. Look I'm a modern girl. And I like that we have clothes for everyone. I even like that sometimes you don't know if some clothes are for girls or boys. Or men and woman. So if you aren't religious or have fixed ideas about 'boys' clothes or 'girls clothes you would have an pretty open attitude about clothing. Like in thinking that pants aren't just for boys! Especially when you're a woman of the world! But nooo our heroine has other kind of ideas.. Well, apparently, Sjofn of this world dressed like a boy. Perhaps not a surprise.(Sjofn is the woman whose body she took) Ok this statement I get. You have a world who is a bit like medieval times and well then it wasn't socially accepted to wear pants as a woman. So if you like woman it would make it more socially acceptable(?) I don't really know if that's true but I do know that throughout history woman who went against social conventions did things that normally was seen as 'men' things. I had to admit, even though I (mostly) avoided dressing like a boy (unless I was caving or the like) I could use some breeches or whatever at the present time but if a dress was all I had, a dress was what I would use. What. The. F*ck? Dressing like a boy? (it really bugs me she use the word boy instead of men. But that's a whole other thing) Since when is wearing pants in our timeline dressing like a boy? Gah. But still I read on but then came the moment I read the following: Then I protested, “But I don’t have my soap here, a bath cloth –” Ugh. Just ugh. This just got ridiculous. Someone who thrives on adventures and the like wouldn't care about smelling like a boy. And even if you do not all woman like smelling like flowers or fruit. I could smell like herbs and that still wouldn't be a 'boy' smell (seriously cut it out with the boy!). Ok it doesn't sound that bad when I'm typing it now. But combined with the underlying homophobia (yes I think it's that) and calling men boys and woman girls I just threw my hands up, screamed and started reading another book. Even after a week I still remember the things I didn't like about this book. But this doesn't mean it's a bad book. I liked the humor and the bubblyniss of the Heroine. But that wasn't enough to keep me reading.. There's a whole hell of a lot of NOPE in here. I don't care if "he's from a different time," consent is key and for a romance that isn't dark, there's a hell of a lot of bad things in here. Couple that with the amount of typos and poorly worded sentences and it all makes for a not so enjoyable reading experience. I know KA is queen of the alpha male but this was a level of discomfort for me that I've not had reading her books before. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

- So sick of hearing "wee one" as a pet name. Excessive use!!
- So sick of hearing "arse" instead of ass. The author can offer all kinds of other "vulgar" words but no, not ass.
Story is way too long for what is offered. (19+ hours) I like the premise of why our MC is where she is. It was fun to watch the two MC's figure each other out but other aspects of the story are too long. There are too many "events". Too many descriptions.
I still have 7 hours to go but wanted to jot some stuff down.
ETA: I skipped like 4 of those last 7 hours, I couldn't hear any more random events, excessive description. I'm on the last bit now.
ETA2: Lots more skipping, my arse is so sick of these people. I'm mad that I may have missed out on what the status of the other
