Introducing movement, tension, balance, and surprise in visual language. Change is one of the few constants in the world. In recent years, more and more images are being created that not only capture a moment in time, but also point to a change that can and will take place directly thereafter. Erratic is a collection of current, often playful work by designers, photographers, and artists who are exploring the reciprocal effects between stability and instability, symmetry and asymmetry, and pressure and counter-pressure. At first glance, the things depicted in the images appear to be in balance or to be symmetrical, which suggests a kind of stability. But upon closer examination, the work documented here tells stories. Or, more aptly, it triggersstories in the viewer's mind that show the inevitable events that will develop out of the depicted circumstances. The contemporary creative Investigations featured in Erratic reveal a range of narrative qualities inherent in single images. At the same, this work makes clear that even conditions of alleged stability or balance can come to an abrupt end at any time.… (más)
