Jere Pauly stared into the splashing water. The late summer sun lit the naked statues of the fountain so brilliantly that it was hard to look at them. Trevi, the fountain he had heard about and seen in, photographs all his life, and he was here.
“Rome looks just like I thought it would,” he said, hls voice soft.
“That’s what you ‘ say; about everything over here,” answered John Brownell. “You said it about the Alps, and about Venice, and about…”
“Yeah, I know, John. It’s just that  I’m - so excited about this trip, that I’ve looked forward to it for so long. I can’t believe we’re finally here.”
“I know what you mean. We sure did plan and talk a lot. Sometimes it seems the same tome, that it’s strange that everything really looks like Europe should. When you brought up the idea of making this trip, you know, that night in the dorm last winter, I thought it was crazy. Now here we are, in the hundred degree heat, I might add.”
