True love can blossom in unexpected places. This is Jaden pretending not to notice. . . .Jaden McEntyre and Parker Whalen are a wrong fit from the start. Jaden is driven and focused, Harvard Med School within reach. Parker has a past—a reputation—and the rumors about his mysterious habits abound. So there’s no reason why, when they're assigned to work together on a project in English, they should discover they have anything in common, or even like each other, and they definitely shouldn't be falling in love. As they bond over Edith Wharton’s tragic novella, Ethan Frome, the “bad boy” vibe Parker plays begins to dissipate. Soon, Jaden finds herself shedding her own “good girl” image: sneaking around to be with him, confiding in him, and ultimately falling hard for this leather-wearing, motorcycle-driving loner who plays into the rebel stereotype. Still, Jaden can't shake the feeling that there's more to Parker than he's letting on. He's hiding something from her, and discovering the truth means reconciling the Parker she's grown to love with the person he really is. Because it's possible that his life inside the classroom—everything Jaden knows—is one, massive lie.… (más)

I really enjoyed the story. I really hope to see more about these characters in later books. It was a little slow paced at first, but by the third chapter it picked up. ( )

Again, I'm wondering: why do I always push reading the best books?

I've been having this book sitting on my TBR shelf for God knows how long, only to discover after an intense five-hours session of reading that it was my kind of story: a pure swoon-material. I need to make a WHY DIDN'T READ THIS SOONER shelf just in case.

Seriously though, I LOVED this one, it was engrossing and hard to put down, it kept flowing and leading me to think that it'll follow the path of every high school romance book, but when I the least expected it: BAM! plot twist! (the good kind) one that changed everything I thought about the story, about Parker, his motives and left me questioning everything he said prior to that.

I was going with a 3.5-4 rating but then Parker the twist changed my mind and made me love the book even more for being something new and great.

I'm so behind in my reviews, I should probably stop reading for while and get on with writing some... but I caaaan't stop reading ;__; ( )

I have had this book in my Kindle for the longest and never got around to reading it , until last night . This book ... this book ... This book !! Parker and Jaden . I will start off saying that surprise twist at the end was unexpected , just saying. Then I read the Parker's version in [b:Collateral Damage|17971349|Collateral Damage (Cross My Heart, #2)|Katie Klein|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1369275865s/17971349.jpg|25192071] and boy it makes this book even better. I love how he bring Jade out of her shell and I love how she opened up to him. Secret attic meeting and skipping school for a day at the Zoo. Sounds like my kind of relationship. The arguments were real and relatable. All I can say is read this and Collateral Damage and you will be in love with Parker and Jade. ( )

Pretty good. I didn't see the twist coming which was kind of nice! I liked both these characters and felt that they were realistic for the most part. ( )

I think that I've fallen in love with this book.

I wasn't sure what to expect after reading the summary, but definitely not that I'd finish this book in one sitting and love it so much.

The main character Jaden is introduced as a sunshine working her ass off for charity cases. At first I was puzzled because I thought she didn't seem passionate about it but getting further into the story it started to fall into place.

Jaden has it all: a cute boyfriend, a perfect GPA, a loving family. But as her older brother tells her so charmingly, she's a control freak.

In the course of this book, Jaden learns that life doesn't always go the way she plans/wants; and that's a hard lesson for her. This is one of the reasons why I could identify myself so good with this book.

The relationship between Parker and Jaden progresses slowly at first while they work together on their English project.

They get to know each other and Parker succeeds in steering Jaden from her straight path - with these experiences (good and bad) she starts growing.

Throughout the Book, there are many things revealed about Parker. And while there's a hint here and there, I would've never guessed what's really behind Parker story.

When all the lies come into the open, I felt as betrayed as Jaden did because I didn't see it coming and loved his character, just to find out how much of his story was a lie.

I also love the symbolism in form of the bathroom faucet. All throughout the book, Jaden asks her dad to fix it for her and it falls on deaf ears until Parker fixes it. And then there's the glitter at the beginning in the book which keeps fading the more the story progresses.

I'll definitely read this book again, probably with different eyes the second time around. And I will also check out more books by Katie Klein as her writing style appeals to me a lot.
