"'God-talk,' as John Macquarrie defines it, 'is a form of discourse professing to speak about God.'" In "Epic God-talk", the author explains how God-talk is used by John Milton is his Paradise Lost and how modern readers can better understand what Milton was trying to convey is his epic poem about God by learning more about how God-talk was used by Milton. The author explains at first how in the Modern era, God-talk has been assimiliated into contemporary language and has been a victim of what he calls "linguistic reductionism". The author and this book offers a way to understand the true deeper sense of what Milton was conveying during his lifetime when he actually wrote his poetry.--taken from the Introduction.
