I could picture myself loving this as a child too. The illustrations were amazing and so colorful and detailed and filled up every page every which way. The story was about a girl who's birthday was coming up, in 5 months, 3 weeks, 2 days, and 8 hours. She was counting down the months and days and thinking of all of the ways she could make her party amazing (in her head). She was going to invite everyone she knew, and make special invitations, and have everything pink, and have a 17 layer cake where everyone will sing "Happy Birthday" very loudly, and have two magicians (she gets to keep the rabbit), and a moon bounce and a parade with animals and a ferris wheel, and jets, and much more. It turns out that her party was very simple, but everything turned out to be pink, everyone sang Happy Birthday very loud, her cake was two layers but her favorite flavors, and she got a pet rabbit! It wasn't everything that she expected but she said at the end "I'm having the best birthday party ever. Just like I planned". I absolutely loved this concept because after every page she got a new idea and more and more people got added to the page. The illustrations changed on each page too, for instance, when she was talking about her 17 layer cake the pages turned vertically so the reader has to turn the book. The words were also split up on the page and weren't just in a straight line which I liked. Overall, I just really enjoyed everything about this picture book, I would definitely recommend it, not only just because of the story, but because of how fun the book is to read.
