Abstract: The latest information available on the relationship of nutrition to health was compiled based on a student project. The project identified relevant topics that emphasized individual's well being and the influence of their diet as a whole. Results indicated that efforts should focus on prevention of nutrition ill-health rather than on crisis intervention. Nutrition education for the public should stress the need to influence the developing food and exercise patterns of the young child. Preventative action may be taken through adequate nutrition education in schools, institutions, hospitals and for the elderly. Food suppliers and restauranteurs must be educated. Continued research into the relationship of nutrition ill-health must be conducted. Specific topics addressed include nutritional knowledge, nutrient requirements, eating habits, vegetarianism, health foods, weight control, meal planning, disease processes and treatment, dietary problems and food poisoning.
