Popular is truly a book with a twist, and although that makes it hard to describe without spoiling it, suffice it to say it was quietly and thoughtfully satisfying. It's one of those books that will have you flipping back through the pages once you've finished, wondering if the author got it right (and she did!). You'll meet Hamilton and her four besties along the way, wonder whether or not her boyfriend Alex is some kind of serial stalker or just plain creepy, and then, whoa, the reveal, and definitely some somber moments. The story is totally unique in its design yet jam-packed with enough high school angst-ridden social life to feel real and keep the pages turning.
