The story follows the mishaps that happen when there isn't a standard measurement. It uses the feet on people to measure the length when building a bed. I like this book because it addresses both informal and formal measurements and the importance of having a standard of measurement. ( ) This book is a great book to introduce measurements. In this book the king's foot and the servant's foot are two different sizes so when the servant makes the king a bed by his foot size the bed is much too small for the king. This book is perfect for showing that we need common measurements and we can't just measure things by random body lengths because everyone is different. How Big is a Foot? can be used with early primary grades and multiple content areas. This book uses an amusing story to introduce the idea of measurements. This book can be used for both math and literature content. How Big is a Foot? can be a read aloud for early primary grades and used as independent read for second grade. This book should be used as a read aloud to start discussions about both the story and the topic of measurements. The students need a deeper discussion and class input to understand the main point. In second grade the students can read the story for the plot, but may have difficulty connecting it to units of measurements. The first grade can be used to teach both plot and measurements. In second grade this book can teach area using beds and create even parts with one unit. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
