Not without some hiccups but as far as romantic reads go it's almost perfect. Even if it's not original. (Let's be honest here, with the history of literature as it is, 'originality' is a little difficult. Plus, it's a romance, teen romance. Enough said.) It's well written, not overly sweet. What's not to like? A light warm read. VERDICT: Try it! This is a great light and quick read. I really needed something light and fluffy after reading Rape Girl and this one fir the bill. We meet Elyse who has sworn of boys and Valentine's Day. She is working in a card shop, with her new friend Dina. Elyse's boyfriend and best friend betrayed her last Valentine's Day in the worst possible way, and she just can't seem to really let go of it. I enjoyed Elyse and Patrick the most out of the characters, Dina irked me so much with how stuck on her ex she was. I never could understand girls like that. The entire book was just so cute and funny, yes it got a little predictable and you just knew what was going to happen, but it's like I couldn't stop reading. I loved that even though the book was short at just over 200 pages, the characters were developed enough for you to either love them or hate them. And Frank, Patrick's grandfather was an amazing little gem added to the story. This is a cute and light, fluffy read. Quick too, being only 240 pages. Definitely a go-to book for the summer. I'm not a fully converted contemporary fan, but I had high hopes for this despite the length, and while I enjoyed it all right, those hopes were not quite met. The writing is well done, as was some of the character development. Patrick felt like a real teenage guy. He had awesome qualities, but he also had flaws which made him even more real. Elyse was the same, but her flaws were a little more pronounced. I get where she's coming from on being burned by love. That happens to all of us at least once, if not more often than that. But to me as a reader, it was obvious that Patrick was always aiming for her, and not her best friend. So personally, I don't understand why Elyse was so blind to it. But that is just me. Overall though I did enjoy it, even though some parts fell kind of flat, while others were definitely humourous. I'd definitely suggest this for fans of contemporary romances in YA without all the paranormal stuff. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
