It tells about Jane's life, starting with her curiosity about animals around her home and how they lived. This part of the book, I'm sure, would resonate with a lot of students. It then tells about how Jane moved to Africa to work with Chimpanzees and how she studied them daily and took so many notes. She tells about making slow progress with them, which is a concept in science lots of students could also relate to. Eventually, she begins to lobby against poaching and human interference with the lives of animals, which is another science concept about how that could impact the ecosystem. Using this book could touch on so many subjects and because it was a narrative, it also could be easy integration to ELA. The Watcher, by Jeanette Winter is an absolutely beautiful book about a woman named Jane Goodall's life. Jane is a woman who grew up in England and was very inspired by animals. She wanted to watch the wild animals, not the caged animal. Once she was old enough, she flew to be with the animals, she got herself a job with a famous scientist and lived with the chimps. She befriended them and at a time when people began to take away their space, Jane advocated for wild life, especially the forest of Gombe. This would be a wonderful book to read with littles who are interested in animals! This picture book tells the story of Jane Goodall. The story starts with her as a little girl. It tells of how she used to watch and study all sorts of animals from a young age. Then it tells of her travels to study the chimpanzees and how eventually she became a crusader for the chimps. This is a an easy to understand picture book with vibrant illustrations. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
