This is the follow-up book to Infinite Days, which I really enjoyed! It really dragged at the beginning of the book, but picked up as the story went along. My favourite characters are definitely Vicken and Rhode. I found that Lenah's character in this book was a little hard to take. The concept of a secret ritual that could return vampires back into humans was intriguing. The themes of atonement, soul mates, and responsibility are major components of the story. The epilogue certainly gave me insight into the next book of the series. ( )

The Good: I loved the flashes back to Lenah's vampire past. We really get to see what it was like for her throughout her time has a vampire, from the first day to the last when she had lost all feeling. If the entire romance angle of the book had been excluded, the book would have been a short story, not even a novella, but it would have been exciting and fun. Because the actual story beyond the romance had a decent mystery and a few decent twists.

The Bad:I have such an issue with girls who can't be alone. Must have a boyfriend. If they can't be with the guy they believe they love, they have no issue just using another in his place. While still pining for and at times actively pursuing their one true love. This is Lenah in a nutshell. She loves Rhode, but can't be with him. So she's with Justin, who loves her. Meanwhile, she's still in love with Rhode. Fixated on how he feels about her. It's something one might expect from someone insecure. Someone not all that worldly. Someone inexperienced with dealing with their feelings. Not something anywhere near acceptable coming from someone who's lived for 600 years. Lenah has failed to grow at all in her extremely long lifetime. If she could at least admit she was using Justin for attention, then fine, but she's almost completely convinced herself that Justin is enough. It's infuriating and makes her near unbearable to read. I remember how awe-struck I was by Infinite Days, peeps.

Here she was, a 600-year old vampire Queen, driven mad by her inability to feel anything but hunger for blood and torturous memories of her love for Rhode, a vampire who turned her and left her, because he couldn't bear to see the monster she became...

Suddenly this monster is turned into a sixteen year old human girl by a magical ritual and she has to unlearn being a monster and slowly regain her humanity. Infinite Days might have been a slow, lyrical and bittersweet Gothic read, but it was utterly gorgeous.

Stolen Night starts with a bang and continues its relentless, torturous drive among blood, tears and oceans of turmoil. O_o_o. It was so worth the 2-year-old wait for this book's release!

Lenah regains an old friendship and tries to continue her relationship with Justin when she discovers a shocking truth about the ritual she underwent. I can not give you details without major spoilers, but let's just say that one thing she wants most is at her arm's reach but forbidden to her by higher forces.

Not only that, the ritual has attracted an evil vampire who hungers for power. She can not be allowed to get her hands onto it because it will bring major destruction to the world. The ritual can only be used with pure intentions and you have to mean to sacrifice your life for it to work. If it's twisted in the wrong hands... Let's just say, a lot of innocent people will die.

Humanly weak Lenah has to fight evil with all her heart and soul while her friends and acquintances are slowly dying at the hands of a monster. There are a lot of deaths in these books, so do not expect happy endings for everyone. In fact don't expect happy endings at all.

This is a book about major sacrifices in the name of love, - sad, painful and utterly gorgeous. The ending is by no means a cliffhanger, but a clever, clever hint on a major plot twist to come although how the hell the author is gonna pull it off I've no clue!

Love from ever the loyal fan, highly recommended series! ( )

Stolen Nights picks right up where we left off with Infinite Days. The ritual to Vicken a human has worked, and now there is a whole new set of problems that Lenah has to deal with. But if she survived the ritual, does that mean her soul mate (Rhode) did as well. Someone from her past has come into town and is causing chaos.
Lenah is still just the same as she always was, strong, brash and sometimes reckless. She made some decision that were dangerous and is conflicted with feeling about everything. Most of the time she was pining for her returned soul mate, while there so many things going around her that needs her attention instead. She redeemed herself toward the end and learning more about her history as a vampire was great. She was one merciless vampire. One of things I really liked was that there was a lot more Rhode and Vicken. I couldn’t help to but like them both. I rooted for Justin in Infinite Days, and I really enjoyed him. But, Wow he shocked me this time around.
The world building was enjoyable, with a new enemy causing issues for the trio and action that gets your blood pumping. The romantic aspect was sweet and heart breaking, the amount of love that Lenah and Rhode shared for each other was something everyone hopes for. Endearing and unconditional. The story itself didn’t go the way I thought it was heading, but I certainly can’t complain. Everything came together and made sense to me in the end. I’m not really sure how to describe the ending other than it was heart wrenching and happy at the same time. I can’t say anymore with out giving it all away. And the epilogue left me teary eyed and gave some renewed hope that I will see more of Lenah and Rhode.
Stolen Nights is was a worthy sequel to Infinite Days, and I am looking forward to seeing where Maizel take the story next. If you are a fan of first in this series or even just vampires in general, this is a great book and I would say give it a try. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. ( )
