John Van Der Zee

I acquired this book in library book sale and I'm glad I picked it up. Much is written about slavery, but little about indentured servitude, an equally cruel form of slavery. Van der Zee has a strong voice that conveys the facts and information without being dry and redundant. This proved a quick read, mostly due to the lively examples and the eye-widening facts. I recommend for anyone interesting in American History, in particular, the less spoken about aspects.
