Goodreads Giveaway.
I really struggled with this book. I was initially excited to read it as I usually find this genre appealing. As I was reading it, I kept telling myself that it would pick up but it really didn't. I essentially forced myself to finish it. The characters seemed one-dimensional and the plot moved really slowly. Usually I don't mind a slower progression through a book, provided there is lots of description and less conversation between the characters. This was not that kind of book. I'm sure that this book will appeal to someone however - it is not badly written.… (más)

The third book in the Maggie D'arcy series has Maggie moving to Ireland for a trial run living with Conor. Lilly is hesitant at first, as she feels her life has been uprooted, but when she meets a young man and begins singing with his band, she is more open. Maggie has an uneasy feeling about the Rosscliffe House, and the community is caught up in protesting the land development being proposed. When the body of a construction worker washes up, Maggie itches to be part of the investigation.
Conor and Maggie also discuss her plans and job prospects.
I wouldn't have solved this one on my own.

Book 2 of Maggie D'arcy, a Long Island cop with ties to Ireland. When a body is found, Maggie and her team are called to investigate. It is Gabriel Treacy, an aid worker. When they find signs of torture, and note that some items are missing, the investigation takes Maggie to Ireland. Due to vacation there with her daughter, Lilly, and see her boyfriend, Conor, the timing is good, but the case interrupts her vacation. Maggie discovers info that Treacy's colleagues are in danger, and there is an investigation into Ireland adoptions tied to the Magdalene laundry scandal. Also involved are several politicians. Maggie is also in danger, and everything comes to an explosive head.
I am enjoying this series and look forward to reading book 3.

In Dublin, Maggie tries to assist the Garda. Another body is found. Maggie is confused. She returns home, and remembers a clue. She solves the case.
Unexpected twists in this one - a good start to a new series. I will continue it.
