Biografía breve
Agnès Rosenstiehl was born in Paris to a family of artists. She studied music at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique (National Conservatory of Music) and took first prize for harmony there in 1966 under the name Agnès Gay.

She also pursued a degree in letters at the Sorbonne but dropped out.

In 1968, after having children, she began writing and illustrating books for young people. She is best known for a series of children's books following the life of Mimi-Cracra, called in English translation Silly Lilly. She co-wrote and illustrated Paris-Pékin par le Transsibérien (Paris to Beijing by the Trans-Siberian Railway, 1980) with her husband, mathematician Pierre Rosenstiehl, after a family trip. She has explored the French language in numerous Alphabet books, including L'Alphabet fou ou le livre des syllabes sibyllines (The Mad Alphabet), which was included in the 1980 Honor List chosen by the International Union for Children's Books (IBBY).

In 1995, she won the grand prize from the Société des gens de lettres (SGDL) for children's books for Les Adverbes.

She was named a Chevalier of the Legion of Honor in 2020.

Very popular with our preschooler. Wonderful artwork. Lilly is delightfully silly. Great for kids just learning to read.

"The world goes around...and the seasons change!" Lilly marches through each season, doing seasonally appropriate activities (finding seashells on the beach in summer, rolling snowballs in winter, taking a bite out of each apple in fall, a la Ramona Quimby). Lilly's teddy accompanies her. This small book is welcoming to emerging readers with its small trim size, landscape orientation, and spacious layout, with no more than four panels across a double page spread.

Silly Lilly is about a young girl who "pretends" to be something new everyday. From a cook, to an acrobat, and even a musician she is always coming up with new stuff. I thought the illustrations were great in this book. It is drawn almost as if its a comic book, and the pictures really bring the story together.

This is a book about Lilly as she discovers the four seasons. First, she is shown during the Spring and she goes to the park and plays with her bear. Second, she goes through Summer and spends a day exploring at the beach. Third, she is in the Fall and she is looking and tasting different apples. Fourth, she is shown in Winter making a snowball. Last, she is shown in Spring again as she plays on a swing. This book chronicles the journey of the four seasons and what activities the girl does in each one.… (más)
