The need for all children reading fluently with comprehension by third grade is the premise for this book that explains the structure of the brain and how language and reading skills are processed and built upon. The content is specifically focused on the ages birth through nine years. Chronological progression of the text assists the reader in seeing the relationship between the foundation of early exposure to literacy and the later development of more advanced skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing upon that foundation.
