"rue are The NIGHTmare Of a person that FEARsSafe A re the BODIES Of tHe Silent World'

When a young man first saw this message typed out on his computer at home a shiver ran down his spine. It was clear what was happening – the poltergeist which had plagued him for months was now manifesting itself in a most original, modern and terrifying way. As the world around us experiences an epidemic of supernatural events, Alasdair Wickham collects together the strangest, creepiest and most enthralling in a compendium of brilliantly told and chillingly convincing tales. The Black Book of Modern Myths explores the richness and malevolence of the supernatural from across the globe, including possession, witchcraft and Mothmen sightings to cursed movie sets and ritualistic killings in the Cornish countryside. No mystery is left unexamined. But beyond these traditional notions of the supernatural, The Black Book of Modern Myths shows us the paranormal connecting with the hi-tech world. These days, the ghosts really are in the machines…Do you dare enter? "

Good for dipping into and as an introduction to the subject but is just pulling together a lot of the better stories that do the rounds on the Internet and doesn't really add anything more.

Sequel to "I am the Blade". For those who like Ranger's Apprentice series. A different take on the Arthurian legend and a look at England in the Dark Ages and all the different tribes involved. In this one, Tog and Jenna are struggling in their new roles as King and Queen, when Jenna is kidnapped because of the secret she holds in her skin (i.e the Pict tattoos all over her back.) In this one, Merlin is a bad guy and Tog has to race from one end of the UK to the other to try and rescue her before a special ceremony where they burn the Wicker Queen. Engaging but a little confusing.… (más)

For those who like the "Ranger's Apprentice" series, this is the story of Tog, who's guardian is murdered one night by a mysterious stranger. With his dying breath, the woodcutter tells Tog to go to a special stone. Once there, he finds an old tomb with a baby's skeleton and a small sword with a man carved on it, and he also has to flee the stranger who has followed him there. Tog then sets out to try and return the sword to the High King. On the way across Dark Ages Britain, where tribes compete for supremacy in the wake of the collapse of the Roman Empire, Tog frees two captured slaves - a huge (but timid) Briton called Allanza, and a tattooed mute Pict girl called Jenna. Together they travel the length of Britain, piercing together the pieces of Tog's past until all is revealed in the final chapter. First of two in a series.… (más)

A different take on the Arthurian Saga. It does take some twists on the story andremoves the magic. Tog lives with his guardian , a woodcutter, and suddenly his life changes when a man comes, kills the woodcutter and starts to chase Tog. The Woodcutter gives hims some whispered advice and it's the start of a chase and a quest, that ends on Avalon.

The start isnt' obvious where the story is going, but it was an interesting read, I had fun trying to work out the links!
