Catorce son los seres humanos que a bordo del Reina de Hydros navegan por los peligrosos mares de un planeta acuático perdido en el espacio. Descendientes de los antiguos colonos terrestres, detestados por los aborígenes anfibios a causa de su voracidad y violencia, han sido desterrados por éstos. El suyo es un viaje a ninguna parte.
