I liked the story at first, with Adelaide the kangaroo electing to travel the world with her wings. Whimsical illustrations (he resting on top of the plane as she flew, for instance) were fun. But then when she went looking for a boyfriend, she had to get the guy freed from the zoo. Unpleasantly reminiscent of slavery, and that would have been okay if there was, you know, some kind of critique of the slavery rather than a nonchalant "here's your get-out-of-jail-free declaration" after she petitioned for her boyfriend! ( ) This is a simple story of Adelaide, the kangaroo with wings who can fly. She leaves her parents to travel the world, landing finally in Paris. This book can be used as an example of differences and why the things that we are born with make us who we are. Adelaide is different from other kangaroos, but that is what makes her special and in one instance, a life-saver. Ultimately, Adelaide finds happiness in love and life despite being different from her peers. I liked the story at first, with Adelaide the kangaroo electing to travel the world with her wings.
