The 75 recipes feature both sweet and savory, light and substantial. There are eggs; egg dishes; other savory dishes; pancakes/etc.; muffins/etc.; and sides such as fruits, grits, potatoes, salads and meats. They’re familiar standards but with a hip-comfort vibe. Each dish is featured via a two-page spread, one page with a color photo of the prepared dish (simply but appetizingly styled), and the facing page with the recipe (including prep time (often around an hour); number of servings (most often between 4-6); but no nutritional info) and a trademark Cook’s Illustrated introductory paragraph featuring background, tips and techniques.
Unlike other cookbooks I’ve encountered, I would eat with delight every one of these dishes if put in front of me, and I marked 16 of them as first choices to prepare myself.
