Ken McGoogan has put together short write-ups of 50 20th-century Canadians who have changed the world. He writes about activists, visionaries, artists, humanitarians, performers and scientists and inventors. The book is well written and interesting, and will make any Canadian proud of our contributions to the world.
In the introductory section, the author cites a study showing that many of us do not recognize photographs of famous Canadians. This caused me to lament the fact that no pictures of those profiled were included.
In the conclusion the author talks about the challenge of limiting his selection to only 50 people and hints at a sequel. I would look forward to that. ( )
