Just thought I'd point out this thread at tor.com. Two folks are reading/re-reading the Malazan books. They've just started.

I love that it's being done by one person experienced with the Malazan universe, and one total newbie. Reading the summaries eventually convinced me to read along with the reread, so now I'm starting the series for the third time.

me too. I read Gardens of the Moon about a month or two ago, so won't reread that one, but I think I'll wait to read book two until they're ready to move on.
Their discussion is helping me tremendously. I found much of the book confusing, coming into it blind, so the discussion is helping me put the whole thing together.

Thanks for the link! I read through the first 7(?) last year and then found out there was more to come. Which is just fine because now I will have to re-read them all. I know I'll enjoy them even more the second time through and especially with this blog to enhance the experience.

Here is a better link, brings you to the index of entries:

It looks like they wanted to start this series in April and then never got it off the ground. One of the two readers dropped out, replaced by a reader new to the series (an improvement in approach, I'd say). Since starting beginning of July, they've been consistent in their weekly schedule.

My only concern is the pace. They initially proposed 100-150 pages a week, but they've been consistently doing 2 chapters a week, which (so far) has averaged maybe 50 pages a week. The intent seemed to be to finish the series by the time the final book comes out next spring, but at this rate it'll take 3 months just to read the first (and smallest by a long shot) book.

these have been on my wishlist for a while, haven't had time even think about starting a new series. But I will one day, oh I will.

I've been stockpiling this series, based on comparisons to Glen Cooks Black Company which I like a great deal.
I may leave it until all are out in Mass Market Paperback in the US.
I feel probably if I do start them I'll have to read to completion, which will eat into my reading time for other authors :-) So Mr. Erikson will have to wait a little while.
Maybe when I hit 100 books for the year I will start :-)

@comicdolphin... I'm doing the same thing. Thanks for the link majkia... after I finish the Mockingbird Book I'll need something else to read! This might just inspire me to do it!
