Days to Celebrate: A Full Year of Poetry, People, Holidays, History, Fascinating Facts and More by Lee Bennett Hopkins

and

365 Days of Celebration and Praise: Daily Devotions and Activities for Homeschooling Families (Paperback) by Julie Lavender

For anyone who would like to incorporate this into their day like I was looking to do. This is an area where I felt I'm lacking- explaining and celebrating the holidays. I'm going to use these when we look at the calendar and discuss what day it is.

Just wanted to share in case it helped someone else,
Jessica

Your local library might have "Chase's Book of Days" (which is horribly expensive for a yearly purchase). Less explanation about holidays, but each day usually has about thirty different "events" with a sentence or two describing them. Also has birthdays.

Thanks legallypuzzled,
I also saw that and agree that it is WAY too expensive for purchase, alas my library doesn't have and it's not worth interlibrary loan.

I had a forehead slapping moment when another WTMer suggested Childcraft's Holidays and Birthdays- which I have.
I need to list each book in my library so that I don't overlook these, this is the 3rd time I've overlooked this wonderful collection!

I've found several resources online that list each day's events, the Library of Congress even has a daily "This Day in History" listing. If you can find one, an old teacher's almanac is a fun item to have around. These usually list something to do for each day of the school year. I've found a few at garage sales. ;-)
