There is more to horror than Dean Koontz or King!! I would not even consider Koontz horror anymore.

I've heard good things about Richard Laymon

Depending on how splattery you like things, you could try David Searcy (not very graphic, but still quite scary) or Tim Lebbon (a fair amount of blood & guts) ... also, while a lot of people seem to dislike it, I thought Ruins by Scott Smith was fantastic.

I like Bentley Little and Peter Straub and a whole slew of others.

There are many good horror writers to choose from.
