There is more to horror than Dean Koontz or King!! I would not even consider Koontz horror anymore.

Depending on how splattery you like things, you could try David Searcy (not very graphic, but still quite scary) or Tim Lebbon (a fair amount of blood & guts) ... also, while a lot of people seem to dislike it, I thought Ruins by Scott Smith was fantastic.
