I only just discovered Alice Munro’s work, actually. I’m a third of the way through a collection of her stories (pub by Everyman), and when I heard this news, I was about to start reading an appreciation piece on her by Margaret Atwood (in her latest collection ‘Burning Questions’).
Munro’s stories are so good. Such intelligent, subtle and beautifully crafted works.

After reading of her death, I have just read another collection of her stories, Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Loveship, Marriage from 2001, having read several collections more than ten years ago.
Great stories, although this collection seemed consistently downbeat, and I should have taken them at a more measured pace. I remember enjoying Runaway more.
