John Adams: El Niño.

Live from the Metropolitan Opera in New York, a production of John Adams's acclaimed opera-oratorio El Niño, which is a dramatic re-telling of the Nativity, along with reflections on the wonders and tribulations of motherhood, incorporating sacred and secular texts in English, Spanish and Latin. Marin Alsop conducts a cast including Julia Bullock, Davone Tines, and a trio of countertenors. Presented by Debra Lew Harder with commentary from Ira Siff. John Adams: El Niño. Madama Butterfly.

Debra Lew Harder presents a live perfromance of Madama Butterfly from the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, with Asmik Grigorian and Jonathan Tetelman starring in Puccini's tragedy of Americans in Japan, conducted by Xian Zhang. In Nagasaki at the turn of the 20th century, American naval officer Pinkerton contracts a 'marriage' with young Japanese geisha Cio-Cio-San, whose friends call her Butterfly. With commentary from Ira Siff.
