Translated works

Is there any way to look up for reviews for a translated book when you’ve read the translated version. But all reviews have been posted under the original title.

Example My Heavenly Favorite is a translation from Mijn lieve gunsteling. I was unaware of the original title so only saw reviews of the English version - 0. Does this mean we have to know the original title when looking up reviews of books translated into English?

Note THIS - the main page of My Heavenly Favorite shows no reviews

That singleton needed to be combined. I have done that, and the work has 7 reviews.

Copies of translations into various languages are all combined (or should be) into the same work. It is useful to have the original title entered in CK. This information can usually be found on the copyright page, and anyone can edit CK, whether or not they have entered the book. I make a point of doing so.

All the reviews are listed together, and can be separated by review language. In many cases this will agree with the language that was read, but not always. I read a fair number of books in German, but almost always review in English, mentioning that I read the book in German, and often commenting on what I thought of the translation. Others may or may not do the same.

>5 MarthaJeanne: Yes I understand, but in my case the two were not combined. Now fixed by LT

>6 EGBERTINA: Thanks. I’ve been doing that. But in the case I posted about the members weren’t showing for the English translation. Now fixed.

>7 kjuliff: Not by LT - by MarthaJeanne. You can always come over in the Combiners group ( https://www.librarything.com/ngroups/460/Combiners%21 )and ask for help when that happens again - or you can combine them yourself. Unlike some other places, here everyone can combine. :)

Most combining is done by regular members. It doesn't need staff. They have enough other things to do.
